Starting in the Temple District Zil has recovered from her ordeal with the shadows.
The group decides that they still have a room key at the inn, so they travel on foot back to the Inn. The Entrance is guarded by several silver clad guards. They let the group inside when they are told that they witnessed the incident within. Inside they meet Cye, Investigator and captain of the guard in the Trade docks District. They gather as much information from the adventurers learning about the shadows, and the cause of the victim’s death. Cye tells them to speak with Iska Naïlo because he is an expert on the sort of magic that they saw the shadows use earlier.
They find Iska in a common area, and begin to detail what had happened with the shadows. During the course of the conversation the elf learns that they happened to meet a turtle dragon that nearly sank their ship in a storm. Iska hushes them and brings them up into the Academy’s water clock to tell them the story of the Dragon and the War. It might be possible that someone has awoken this dragon. The group decides to investigate the docks and look for anyone suspicious.
Visiting the registry office, with the scribe’s help, the travelers identified a suspicious ship that lied about their home port in their papers. Thinking this was the most likely place to start, they located the ship and found it oddly empty.
They systematically moved throughout the ship and investigated its contents. Lah stole a blanket from one of the cabins before they continued farther into the depths of The Chimera. In the base of the ship several zombies were chained up. Careful not to get too close they killed the undead and after looking around found a secret room behind a false wall. Inside the secret room was a chest full of coins and gems, a glyph affixed to the inside of the hull, a note about an upcoming meeting in the usual time and place, and a story book that is written in Draconic and is called “Bed time Stories for the Lonely Dragon”
Wanting to track down the sailors from The Chimera, everyone heads to the seediest tavern that they can find. It was exceedingly dark and quiet with cramped seating. Lah spends some time trying to convince the bartender that music was great and that he should employ some musicians for the tavern. In the process of convincing them this she begins to rap and bang her drum using lyrics from the story book she found on the ship as inspiration. It doesn’t seem to be working, but it does catch the attention of a human sitting in a far corner of the room. He whispers to his companion and the companion approaches the group. Tensions begin to escalate as they begin to ask where Lah got the book she was using. He is reluctant to give his real name so he tells them his name is John The conversation escalates to the point where they call for a meeting on the damn on the top of the city to discuss things further.
Despite the high tension and urgency the strangers seemed to exude in their previous conversation, The party instead takes their time getting ready. They warn their friend Iska about the meeting, and also inform Cye about the suspicious ship in the harbour using scoobie.
The two men from the tavern are waiting in the middle of the dam. The strangers are very hostile and agitated. When John grabbed Lah on the arm to stop them from leaving a fight breaks out on the dam. Several hidden sailors run up the steps to the dam to join the fight. Zil begins a grapple fight with the leader, who has been silent so far, because his second in command doing all the talking on his behalf. Lah dispatches the second in command and forces him to stand with his nose in the corner for the duration of the fight. Zil presses the leader toward the edge of the dam trying to have him call off his men. All of his demands are in draconic so they are not heeded. All the while Lah throws insults at several of the attackers before rendering the leader into a laughing mess of a man. Firos delivers a thunder wave into the crowd and forces three of the sailors off the side of the dam. On their way down Their ally, Iska arrives and saves the falling men using feather fall. Aside from making sure no one dies he isn’t terribly useful in a combat scenario. The sailors fight with Firos one of them, a dark haired robed fellow, gets a lucky hit on Firos and guts the poor wizard with his blade. Seeing her friend in danger Zilathra springs into action and crushes the skull of the offending spock-like man with one sturdy blow with her quarterstaff. After that its only a matter of knocking out the remaining/fleeing sailor and speaking with their leader. Lah speaks with the stranger and realizes that he actually could not speak anything but Draconic.
He reveals that the book of stories belongs to him and he was hoping on using it to sooth the Dragon who was causing trouble for his people. It is the same dragon that is barring foreigners from leaving the port. It turns out that they both wanted the same thing all along. In a surprising twist Darien introduces himself and asks Lah to return his book. Lah is unwilling to part with the book but agrees to help him with his quest to deal with the dragon.
Iska parts ways with the group and agrees to do some research about the war and the turtle dragon. He also agrees to tell Cye that Darien’s ship isn’t actually a threat to Tal Elena.
The Small party grows to a group of Five, and after some recovery they travel Northeast around the mountain wishing to arrive in time for Darien’s meeting with his unknown contact.
While traveling through the forest Lah spies a spider high above them in the canopy. Feeling a bit hungry, and a bit interested in what spider tastes like after a conversation she had with the wood elf bartender earlier that day she tells John that he should shoot it for her. After some prodding John begrudgingly agrees to do it grumbling something about the name John under his breath. His arrow sticks into one of the spiders legs and it let out a great screech. It looked a lot more angry than it was hurt. It and several other smaller spiders descended and struck John down it was a messy fight but Darien made quick work of the spiders giving off the idea that if things had gone differently on the dam the would have been in a lot of trouble. Lah borrowed John her newly stolen blanket, and Darien carried his friend the rest of the way to Star Gem Mine.
The group meet several miners on the shore of Star Gem lake. They ask if they might be able to borrow one of their boats so they might reach the village they were traveling to more quickly. The miners agree and the group continues down the small river that feeds from the lake. they drift down the river eventually reaching the small elven fishing village of Fish foam. (Lingwe Wing
Darien has the room above the tavern reserved for their use and the group settles down to wait for the full moon. They have reached their destination just a day before the full moon. so they won’t have to wait long.
